Applications are invited for the post of Law Officer and Legal Assistant in Prison Department, Govt. of NCT of Delhi on deputation as per following details:-

1. Name of the post:- LAW OFFICER

Classification of post:- General Central Service Group-“B” Gazetted.

Number of Vacancies:- Total - 1 (ONE)

Pay Scale:- Rs. 9300-34800 + 4600 G.P.

Age Limit:- The maximum age limit shall be not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of the receipt of the applications.

Qualifications:-

Officers of the Central/State Govts./Union Territories.

(a) (i) Holding analogous posts on a regular basis; or

(ii) with 5 (five) years’ regular service in posts in the scale of pay of Rs. 9300-34800/- + Rs. 4200/- (Grade Pay) or equivalent; and

(b) Possessing the following educational qualifications and experience:-

Essential:

(i) Degree in Law of a recognized University or equivalent.

(ii) 4 years’ experience in Legal work in a Government Department. OR

4 years’ experience as Officers of the State/Union Territory Judicial Service.

Period of deputation:- Period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other Organization/Deptt. of the Central Govt. shall ordinarily not exceed three years.

Nature of duties:- To supervise all legal matters/court cases viz. preparation of parawise comments on the writ petitions, engagements of Govt. counsels liaison and co-ordinations with Govt. counsels, follow up of court cases, reporting of day today outcomes of court cases, appearing in courts alongwith Govt. counsels, co-ordination with other branches of Deptt. for compliance of directions from courts, maintenance of monthly statistics of court cases, preparation for special courts for petty offenders etc.

2. Name of the post:- LEGAL ASSISTANT

Classification of post:- GCS Group 'B' Non-Gazetted Non-Ministerial

Number of Vacancies:- Total - 13 (Thirteen)

Pay Scale:- Rs. 9300-34800/- + Rs. 4200/- (GP)

Age Limit:- The maximum age limit shall be not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of the receipt of the applications.

Qualifications:-

Officers under the Central/State Govts/UT.:-

(a) (i) Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent cadre/department: Or

(ii) With 6 (six) years service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis in the scale of pay of Rs. 5200-20200/- + Rs. 2800 Grade Pay or equivalent in the parent Cadre/Department; And

(b) Possessing the following educational qualification and experience:-

(i) Degree in Law from a recognized University or equivalent.

(ii) Two years’ experience as a legal practitioner or two years’ experience in legal work in a Govt. Deptt. or autonomous bodies/public sector undertakings.

Period of deputation:- Period of deputation including period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other Organization/Deptt. of the Central Govt. shall ordinarily not exceed three years.
