The National Institute of Rock Mechanics (NIRM) is a premier institute for research in applied and basic rock mechanics, set up under the Ministry of Mines, Government of India in the year 1988.

The Job Profile: The Director is the Chief Executive Officer. He shall be responsible for the overall functioning of the Institute and planning for its future course of action fulfilling the objectives of the Institute. He is expected to take the Institute on a growth path to make it the center of excellence and self reliant financially.

Essential Qualification 1st Class B.E./B.Tech. or 1st Class M.Tech/M.E. in Mining/Civil Engineering(or) 1st Class Post Graduate in Earth Sciences.
Desirable Ph.D in Mining/Civil/Earth Sciences related to rock mechanics/geotechnical engineering.
Experience 20 years or more experience in research/teaching/industry, with outstanding contribution in rock mechanics/geotechnical/mining/civil engineering projects.
Scale of Pay PB—4 (₹ 37,400-67,000); Grade Pay ₹ 10,000 (as per 6th CPC)
Age Less than 55 years (as on 01 -08-2017)

How to Apply: Applications should be made in the prescribed format that can be downloaded from the Institute's website http://www.nirm.in. Duly filled in application form with copies of proof of age, qualification, experience etc, along with a fee of 200/- by DD drawn in favor of NIRM (payable at State Bank of India, Kumaraswamy Layout Branch, Bengaluru or Corporation Bank, Andersonpet Branch, KGF) may be forwarded to the Controller of Administration, NIRM, at the Institute’s Head office address. Acopy of the same may also be sent to the Economic Advisor, Ministry of Mines (Govt. of India), 3rd Floor, D-Wing, Shastri Bhavan, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Road, New Delhi-110 001. Applications from persons employed in Central / State Government / PSUsI Universities / Autonomous Bodies should be forwarded through proper channel. Candidates sending advance application are required to produce No Objection Certificate at the time of Interview. The candidates intending to join on deputation will be governed by rules of the GOI on the subject. Candidates applied earlier are exempted from application fee.
