On 30Nov, IT giant Infosys announced the appointment of Salil S Parekh as the new CEO (Chief Executive Officer) and MD ( ManagingDirector) of the company. Parekh will take over from January2
In a filing to the BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange), the company stated that the appointment has been made for a period of five years. It further said that the appointment has been made based on the recommendation of Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Currently, Parekh is a member of the Group Executive Board at French IT services company Capgemini.
He has Master of Engineering degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay.
After the announcement, Nandan Nilekani, Chairman of Infosys Board said, "He (Parekh) has nearly three decades of global experience in the IT services industry. He has a strong track record of executing business turnarounds and managing very successful acquisitions".
